Individual therapy in Washington, DC.
I offer psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy for adults in Washington, DC. Therapy can offer room to explore what you feel, how you relate, and why certain experiences seem to repeat.
What brings
you here?
You may be managing anxiety, feeling disconnected, questioning who you are, or finding yourself in familiar patterns that no longer feel workable. You do not need a complete explanation of your difficulties before beginning.
We can start with what feels most present, including the experiences that are hard to name.
The experiences
we can explore.
- Anxiety, depression, and emotional distress
- Men’s health and psychological wellbeing
- Shame, self criticism, and self worth
- Identity, sexuality, and belonging
- Relationships, intimacy, and recurring interpersonal patterns
- Life transitions and changing roles
- The effects of earlier relationships on present experience
I work with adults, with particular interest in the experiences of young adults and adults across the lifespan.
Men’s mental health and emotional life
One of my areas of clinical focus is men’s mental health. Expectations about masculinity, self-reliance, and emotional expression can shape relationships and the ways men understand themselves. If you are more comfortable solving problems than talking about feelings, we can begin there. Therapy offers space to explore anxiety, shame, anger, intimacy, and the pressure to appear in control, at a pace that allows trust to develop.
High achievement and the pressure to keep performing
You may be capable and successful in your work while feeling anxious, emotionally disconnected, or never quite good enough. I work with adults navigating demanding careers, perfectionism, and the strain of being someone others depend on. We can explore how achievement relates to self-worth, what happens when slowing down feels difficult, and how to make room for needs and relationships that have been harder to attend to.
Engaged.
Curious.
Collaborative.
My work is primarily psychodynamic and relational. Together, we pay attention to your current concerns and to the less obvious feelings, expectations, and ways of protecting yourself that may shape them.
Our conversations can connect understanding with the choices and challenges of daily life. We will develop a focus together and revisit how the work is feeling for you.
